Today, we talk about the Michigan football team and the offseason — freshmen are in, and the workouts have begun. But the coaches are already planning on how they’re going to use their veterans, starting with junior running back Donovan Edwards.

“His touches could come as we can hand him the ball off, we could toss it to him, we could throw it to him,” Harbaugh said. “He’s definitely somebody that we’ve got to get the ball to. He’s got to eat because it makes us better, makes us more dangerous.”

There are several on the Michigan offense in that category, he added. But Edwards and Blake Corum are going to lead the way.

“That’s hard for a defense to defend that many playmakers. and then J.J. McCarthy, somebody’s going to handle the ball every down,” the Michigan coach said. “There are other guys, too.

“So, a creative way to get all those people the ball and something we’re gonna have to be good at game planning for and holding ourselves accountable to it too,” Harbaugh. “I’m already thinking of after Game 1 Sunday, get together, and I want to be able to say that each one of those guys had that many targets or that had that many touches.”

On the basketball side, Juwan Howard and the Michigan coaches are still looking for another guard. The roster is nearly complete for 2023-24, and there are some good pieces. However, there’s not much depth, and the Wolverines need another ball handler.

We discuss that and more on Michigan basketball in today’s chat, as well.
