Michigan will face Denver in today’s Frozen Four contest (5:00 p.m.), and is a heavy favorite to advance to the final against either Minnesota or Minnesota State.
“We have Billy in the locker room, [assistant] Bill Muckalt,” forward Mike Pastujov said. “He’s been a great role model for us. He was in our shoes … on two national championships for Michigan.
“Going back and watching the old film, seeing the emotion that they played with, the raw emotion that college hockey brings to the ice. For them to be able to get it done two years of their four years [1996 and ’98], it’s outstanding. It brings a lot of pride to Michigan. We’re looking to follow in their footsteps and get it done in Boston.
“Yeah, our coaches have national championships in their pocket,” forward Jimmy Lambert added. “They know what it takes to win. They’ve told us all year long we have that and they believe in us.”

Michigan football thriving in the NIL game
Michigan football, meanwhile, continues to make progress in the NIL game. From Jim Harbaugh on Bussin’ With The Boys podcast:
“I’ll give you my take on it, which is I think it’s a very good thing,” he said> “I think players should be able to profit off of their name, image and likeness. But I don’t want to lose what Michigan is, and it’s a transformational experience, not a transactional experience.
“But with the NIL, it can become transactional. We’re not going to recruit players and be promising them money to come here. But, it’s been proven — you come here and you play well, then your jersey starts selling, you start getting these deals.
“We have players that are making — from what they’ve told me — in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.”
And that’s a good thing.
