Michigan is dealing with a lot this offseason beyond just head coach Jim Harbaugh flirting with NFL teams. Harbaugh took his name off the Denver Broncos wish list and is now dealing with the NCAA and their ‘Level 1 violation’ allegation.

As we reported today, Michigan has his back and would likely be prepared to go the distance to defend him. Sources have said Harbaugh’s apology for Level 2 violations and willingness to take a suspension are reasonable to U-M, but a half season suspension is not. If that’s the course the NCAA chooses, Michigan is prepared to go through a protracted and robust defense, up to and including litigation.

As our Anthony Broome reported recently:

Michigan football co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Matt Weiss is currently on a leave from the program while campus police investigate “a report of computer access crimes” that took place at Schembechler Hall from Dec. 21-23.

Weiss, who has not been with the team or on the recruiting trail recently while being put on paid administrative leave, had a police presence at his Ann Arbor home last week believed to be related to the university investigation, per the ESPN report.

“I am aware of the ongoing investigation by the University of Michigan Police Department and fully cooperating with investigators. I look forward to the matter being resolved. Out of respect for the integrity of the investigation, I will not have any further comment,” Weiss said in a statement to ESPN.
