TheWolverine.com CHAT: Michigan hoops portal chatter, spring football talk, more
Michigan basketball coach Juwan Howard and his staff are looking to the transfer portal for help after losing two more pieces from last year’s team. Hunter Dickinson is in the portal and Kobe Bufkin is off to the NBA — it appears for good — leaving U-M looking for more in addition to recent addition Nimari Burnett.
We talk about that and more in today’s chat here: THEWOLVERINE.COM CHAT

U-M is in on several portal targets, having had a Zoom meeting with Chris Ledlum recently and in the mix for North Carolina transfer Caleb Love. There could still be others transferring out, as well, so there could be even more spots to fill.
Dickinson is meeting with Kentucky via Zoom today, per reports, and has the nation’s top programs after him.
We’ll see where it goes.
Michigan football continues its climb
Michigan had an outstanding spring football session, head coach Jim Harbaugh said, and will likely enter the season as the favorite to win the Big Ten. The Wolverines are deep at every position and have star power at many of the skill positions, especially quarterback and running back.
“You never stay the same,” Harbaugh said at a pep rally before the spring game. “You’re either getting better or you’re getting worse. You never stay the same. No team that we play on our schedule is going to be the same that they were last year. Some may be better; some may be worse. This is not the time to regroup or to rest or to take a step back. Now is the time to attack.

“I think this team is the best version that we’ve had of ourselves. The phrase, ‘Strike while the iron is hot’ is at the forefront of our minds. We want to keep the ground that we have … plus we want to take some more ground.”
In other words, get past the national semifinals.
We talk spring ball in today’s chat, as well.
