TheWolverine.com Chat: Michigan spring football, hoops, recruiting, and more
Michigan has hit the ground running in spring ball and is off to a great start, head coach Jim Harbaugh said Thursday. The coach named off a lot of early standouts, talked backup quarterbacks, and much more.
We talk about his comments and what we’ve picked up from the first week of spring football in today’s CHAT: THEWOLVERINE.COM NOON CHAT

In addition, Harbaugh spoke about his relationship with Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel. While there’s been plenty of speculation, including reports that the two hadn’t spoken in a long time, Harbaugh tried to quiet talk that the two were at odds.
“I feel like it’s great. It’s a great relationship,” the Michigan coach said. “It’s one of those narratives that seemed to be out there, but I have a great relationship with Warde Manuel. He’s been great for our athletic department and our university. Nothing but good. I trust Warde … he trusts me.”
In addition, Harbaugh shed light on the Michigan spring game format for the open-to-the-public event coming up April 1.
“Plan on a game. Similar to what we did last year and have done in years past when there wasn’t a pandemic, we have a spring game,” Harbaugh said. “We’ll have a draft, split up teams, split up coaches. Guys who haven’t played a lot in games get that game opportunity in the Big House.”

Juwan Howard and Michigan basketball making a run
Better late than never … but is it too late? Michigan has now won two straight games with a home win over MSU and a road win at Rutgers, but the Wolverines still have work to do to make the NCAA Tournament.
They’re getting closer, though, and took a huge step last night with the 58-45 win in Piscataway. Michigan fell behind 13-3 before making a run.
“I feel like we stayed the course. We kind of missed a couple game plan mistakes we didn’t follow, so they were able to hit some shots,” sophomore shooting guard Kobe Bufkin said. “But after we were able to clean that up, we were able to obviously get back into the game.”
And pull away down the stretch for a huge win.
Several NBA scouts were on hand to watch Bufkin, who is approaching first round NBA Draft territory (if he’s not already there). We talk about his prospects to stay in school and more in chat.
