Michigan scored a major win on the recruiting trail.

Top 100 Monroe (N.C.) High safety Jordan Young flipped his commitment from Clemson to Michigan on Sunday afternoon.

Young committed to Clemson earlier this month. However, Michigan secondary coach LaMar Morgan continued to push hard behind the scenes and ultimately won him over.

“What excites me most about Michigan is the opportunity to be part of such a legendary program and contribute to its legacy,” Young told On3’s Chad Simmons. “The coaches, the team culture, and the resources here are amazing, both athletically and academically.”

Young previously made an official visit to Michigan in October. The Wolverines made a strong impression, but distance remained a concern. Morgan and company were obviously able to overcome that in the week leading into National Signing Day.

Young is now part of a five-man class for Michigan in the secondary. The Wolverines like what Young brings to the table as a nickel thanks to his versatility and athleticism.
