Ty Haywood commitment catapults Michigan's 2025 class up On3 team rankings
Michigan landed another Top 100 commitment Wednesday morning when Ty Haywood announced he plans on signing with the Big 10 program. He’s the No. 48 recruit in the 2025 class and the No. 8 tackle prospect nationally, and his pledge helped the Wolverines jumped to No. 6 nationally.
Coming into today, the Wolverines class ranked No. 9 nationally in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 3 in the Big Ten with a class score of 92.194. After Haywood’s commitment, Michigan leapt past LSU, Auburn and Texas A&M to finish just outside the Top 5 with a 92.59 class score— a 1.31 increase from the 2024 cycle.
Oregon (No. 4) and Ohio State (No. 5) are the only Big 10 programs to finish ahead of the Wolverines in this recruiting cycle. This is Michigan’s highest-ranked recruiting class since 2017. The Wolverines signed multiple On3 Industry five-star prospects for the first time since Dax Hill and Chris Hinton joined the program in the 2019 cycle.
Five-Star+ quarterback Bryce Underwood headlines the 2025 class after maintaining his spot as the No. 1 recruit in the country in this rankings update. He was the first recruit to ever receive a “100” player rating from On3.
Wolverine offensive tackle Andrew Babalola checked in close behind him, comfortably in five-star territory at No. 14 nationally.
Haywood and Babalola forms an elite tackle duo in the 2025 class. The Denton (TX) Ryan High standout is Top 100 recruit according to all four major recruiting service. Standing 6-5, 297 pounds, the former Alabama commit also held offers from Texas A&M, Florida State and Oklahoma.
“All of their offensive linemen have been recruited to the NFL. All their o-line is getting drafted,” Haywood told The Wolverine.

Here’s On3’s scouting report on Haywood, the likely final non-specialist in Michigan’s 2025 class.
“Explosive, powerful offensive tackle with high-end traits for the position. Measured in at around 6-foot-4.75, 297 pounds with 33 ⅞-inch arms and 10-inch hands at the On3 Elite Series prior to his senior season. Added around 15 pounds prior to his junior season. Shows encouraging movement skills in the camp setting. Doubles as a standout in track and field with a stellar 58-6 foot shot put throw as a junior. Transfers those physical attributes over to the field in a functional way.
“Works at left tackle for Denton Ryan, one of the top talent-producing high school programs in North Texas. Flashes very strong hands, stunning defensive linemen with his initial punch. Has strong grip strength and maintains his blocks. A bully in the run game. Plays with a sturdy base and shows the ability to anchor on contact.
“Will need to continue honing his pass set technique. Has some stiffness in his lower body and could stand to improve flexibility. Lunges nd loses balance at times and didn’t move quite as well as a senior. Frame may project more as a maxed 315-pounder than at 325+. Has the skill set to project at multiple spots along the offensive line, but stacks up well among a loaded offensive tackle group in the 2025 cycle.”
The Wolverines signed a total of eight Top 100 recruits in the final On300 — Underwood (No. 1), Babalola (No. 14), Nate Marshall (No. 39), Kainoa Winston (No. 44), Haywood (No. 76), Jacob Washington (No. 92), Jordan Young (No. 93) and Benny Patterson (No. 96). Michigan holds 24 prep commitments in the 2025 class.
