Michigan Wolverines football is headfirst into the offseason coming off a 7-5 campaign and signing the nation’s No. 9 class last week, headlined by Five-Star+ Bryce Underwood. Now, the program needs to find an offensive coordinator and continue its build via the transfer portal and other lingering recruitments.

Michigan also found out its bowl destination and opponent on Sunday when it was revealed that it would head to the ReliQuest Bowl in Tampa for a rematch with the Alabama Crimson Tide, who it played almost a year ago in a 27-20 overtime in at the College Football Playoff semifinal at the Rose Bowl.

The Wolverine’s Anthony Broome, Chris Balas and Clayton Sayfie discussed a busy few days for the football program in addition to men’s basketball’s 8-1 start and debut in this year’s AP Poll at No. 14.

“Gotta find an [offensive coordinator] now that the portal’s open,” Balas said on the show. “They’ve got to figure out who it’s going to be. And Jason Candle, we’ve been hearing his name a lot from the beginning as we posted on our first hotboard about a week ago or so since Kirk Campbell was let go. I like the name. He’s not the only name. There are some others they’re looking at, so we’ll see where it goes, but they got to get somebody in here pretty quickly because guys are going to want to know from the transfer portal who their offensive coordinator is going to be.

“Other than that, Alabama in the ReliaQuest Bowl, you start the year with Alabama, you end the year with Alabama. And frankly, whatever happens on December 31st happens. I don’t really care. Obviously you want to win, but if you’re going to give me the choice of between one or the last one January 1st, we’ll never be duplicated or replicated. So we’ll see who plays in that game. I’m guessing there will be a lot of opt outs. In fact, I’m not guessing on a few, there are going to be some guys who absolute do sit out. But it’ll be fun to be down there.”
