WATCH: Sherrone Moore press conference after Michigan spring practices
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Michigan Wolverines football head coach Sherrone Moore held a press conference Monday morning after the completion of his team’s spring practices for the 2024 season. Watch video of Moore above or on our YouTube channel.
Moore discussed Michigan’s quarterbacks but did not get into many specifics.
“Everybody’s getting better,” Moore said. I think that’ll go into the summer, the fall. We’ll see when we get to fall camp.”
The spring game was a bit sloppy at points, but there were a lot of positives as well.
“Really good … a couple penalties,” Moore said. But other than that, the guys competed and had a lot of fun. That’s what I wanted to see, and no major injuries.”
Moore was asked about if Michigan will target anything specific in the NCAA transfer portal.
“We’ll see,” Moore said. “Different needs, different spots. I’m not gonna get into all the particulars, but we’ll see how we progress. Excited about the building of this team.”
Moore didn’t discuss the challenges of being Michigan’s head coach when asked, but did say that it’s been “different” being in an elevated role for nearly three months.
“Just different in the fact that it’s not as much football,” Moore said. “I used to just sit in a room with two big screens and watch football all the time. But it’s less of that and more of managing an organization on a daily basis. Just keeping our alignment and keeping our process the same. So that’s what’s been different.

“It’s been great. There are things that go on every single day that are different, that you have to handle. Excited about everything that’s gone on and want to keep progressing.”
The Michigan offensive line is coming together, but Moore noted that it doesn’t happen overnight. The Wolverines are tasked with replacing all five starters and even their sixth lineman.
“It takes time every year, every spring. Everybody is like, ‘The O-line this, the O-line that.’ I mean, last year [former Michigan offensive lineman] Trevor Keegan would yell at me, ‘We’re not there yet.’ “It’s like, ‘Trev, it takes time. You need a fall camp, you need summer, you need a fall camp. You need a couple games.’
“But they’re all progressing and did a really good job this spring. It’s super cool to see where they’ve been and how they’ve grown and how guys have taken steps positively and excited for them.”
