With All-American games and senior seasons in the rearview mirror, On3 has updated the On300 rankings for the 2022 class. Michigan winds up with nine signees inside the On300, including three headlined by newly-minted five-star cornerback Will Johnson.

Five-star CB Will Johnson, Grosse Pointe South (Mich.) High

Previous Ranking: 42

New Ranking: 31

On3 was the only rankings service that didn’t list Michigan cornerback signee Will Johnson as a five-star and now Johnson is a five-star on all rankings services. Johnson is the headliner of Michigan’s class and played a key role in Michigan landing a top-10 recruiting class in the 2023 cycle. Johnson projects to be an early contributor for the Wolverines and could even earn a starting role as a freshman.

Four-star EDGE Derrick Moore, St. Frances Academy (Md.)

Previous Ranking: 167

Current Ranking: 55

Michigan EDGE signee Derrick Moore didn’t join the class until National Signing Day but the former Oklahoma commit winds up as Michigan’s second-highest ranked signee after a dominant performance at the Under Armour All-American Game. Moore followed up a strong week of practices with a two-sack performance in the game, earning Under Armour All-American Game MVP for his efforts. Michigan faces a tough task in replacing Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo which opens the door for Moore to find his way on the field early in his Michigan career.

Four-star LB Jimmy Rolder, Chicago (Ill.) Marist

Previous Ranking: 155

Current Ranking: 59

Jimmy Rolder’s metoric rise continues as the Michigan signee, who has hardly on any school’s radar heading into his senior season winds up ranked as one of the top 100 players in the country. Michigan beat out Ohio State, Iowa and Wisconsin for the talented linebacker who projects to contribute on special teams early in his career but should develop into a dominant linebacker in defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald’s scheme.

Four-star WR Darrius Clemons, Portland (Ore.) Westview

Previous Ranking: 47

Current Ranking: 75

Michigan wide reciever signee Darrius Clemons fell largely due to rankings attrition around him but he remains one of the top 100 players in the country. Clemons is now listed as the No. 13 wide receiver in the country and pairs a 6-foot-3 frame with verified 4.37 speed. Michigan doesn’t have a reciever on the roster with that size and speed, which could allow Clemons to see the field early.

Four-star S Keon Sabb, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy

Previous Ranking: 102

Current Ranking: 93

Michigan safety signee Keon Sabb jumps into the top 100 in the latest On300 rankings. Sabb was a longtime Clemson commit before decommitting following Brent Venables’ departure and later committing and signing to Michigan on National Signing Day. Sabb is a bigger safety standing at 6-foot-2 and matches up well with athletic tight ends and bigger receivers, making him a natural fit in the Big Ten.

Four-star DL Kenneth Grant, Merrillville (Ind.) High

Previous Ranking: 130

Current Ranking: 101

Michigan signee Kenneth Grant could be the true nose tackle the Wolverines were missing in Mike Macdonald’s defensive scheme last season. The mammoth 6-foot-4, 330lb lineman had a dominant senior season for Merrillville and due to necessity, will likely see the field early and often in his Michigan career.

Four-star S Zeke Berry, De La Salle (Cali.) High

Previous Ranking: 60

Current Ranking: 152

A little bit of a head-scratcher, Michigan defensive back signee Zeke Berry fell nearly 100 spots in the On300 despite a standout senior season. Berry is a versatile athlete that could play anywhere in the defensive backfield. The senior did not enroll early at Michigan which could affect his ability to play early in his freshman year. However, his versatility and athleticism could allow him to make up for lost time in fall camp.

Four-star TE Colston Loveland, Gooding (Idaho) High

Previous Ranking: NR

Current Ranking: 244

Michigan tight end signee Colston Loveland was a hidden gem out of Idaho and now his ranking matches his talent. Loveland rises from outside the On300 to the No. 244 player in the country and the No. 14 tight end nationally. Loveland is an early enrollee and has the chance to make waves in the tight end room and carve out a role in Michigan’s offense in the 2022 season.

Four-star CB Kody Jones, Germantown (Tenn.) High

Previous Ranking: 270

Current Ranking: 258

Michigan cornerback signee Kody Jones saw his ranking improve slightly, rising 12 spots in the On300. Jones is a somewhat underrated member of Michigan’s 2022 loaded secondary signing class in the sense that he isn’t talked about as much as Johnson, Sabb or Berry. However, Jones was an impressive land by the Michigan staff who had to fight off late efforts from SEC schools to keep him in the class. Jones projects to stick at cornerback at Michigan and could see early playing time on special teams and potentially even play his way into the rotation at cornerback.

Four-star WR Tyler Morris, Nazareth Academy (Ill.)

Previous Ranking: NR

Current Ranking: 300

Despite not playing a senior season due to injury, Michigan wide receiver signee Tyler Morris rises from outside the On300 to just making the cut as the No. 300 player in the country. Morris is seen as a four-star prospect on all rankings services despite dealing with an unfortunate injury that robbed him of his senior season thanks to the body of work he’d put together early in his high school career. Morris continues to rehab from his injury and could need to redshirt as a freshman before being able to contribute for the Wolverines.

Notable: Michigan EDGE commit Kevonte Henry fell from No. 93 to No. 175. Henry didn’t sign on National Signing Day and is very unlikely to stick with his Michigan commitment. Henry is taking official visits to Oklahoma, USC and Florida ahead of an expected final decision during the February Signing Period.

Michigan four-star Seattle (Wash.) Rainier Beach offensive tackle target Josh Conerly Jr. fell from No. 55 to No. 145. The senior is pushing his commitment until March and will decide between USC, Washington, Miami, Oregon, Oklahoma and Michigan.
