Michigan is now ranked No. 27 in the 2023 On3 Consensus national team recruiting rankings after landing a commitment from consensus four-star West Bloomfield (Mich.) High offensive lineman Amir Herring. Michigan moved up five spots with the addition.

Herring committed to Michigan over offers from Nebraska, Michigan State, and others. At 6-foot-3, 290 pounds, Herring ranks as the No. 17 interior offensive lineman and No. 276 overall prospect, per the On3 consensus rankings. Herring is the first offensive lineman in the 2023 class for Michigan.

The Class

As a result, the Wolverines have a total score of 87.775, placing them just behind South Carolina, which has a score of 87.839.

Michigan is very much in play for Top 100 prospects like EDGE prospect Nyckoles Harbor, defensive back Javien Toviano, ATH Jacobe Johnson, EDGE Enow Etta, DL John Walker, RB Jeremiyah Love as well as other top targets Paul Mubenga, Collins Acheampong and more. And that means the Wolverines should move up the rankings soon.

During the month of June, U-M hosted a number of these prospects on official visits.

The ninth member of the 2023 Michigan recruiting class, Herring joins consensus four-star running back Cole Cabana, four-star linebacker Semaj Bridgeman, tight end Deakon Tonielli, three-star wide receivers Semaj Morgan and Fredrick Moore, three-star defensive lineman Brooks Bahr, three-star running back Benjamin Hall and highly touted kicker Adam Samaha.
