McWhorter Recruitment

Michigan does not have an offer on the table for McWhorter just yet. However, new U-M offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey did extend a scholarship to him during his time at North Carolina.

Lindsey and McWhorter have a strong relationship, and that familiarity may lead to a pursuit from the Wolverines. In fact, McWhorter was one of the first 2026 quarterbacks that Lindsey reached out to after being hired at Michigan.

Here is what Holland had to say about the Peach State product.

“There is familiarity there with Lindsey having offered him,” Holland said. “For Brodie, it’s all about coming to Michigan and getting on campus for a visit, so he can get more familiar with the program. He’s already heard good things about the program from his cousin, Bear McWhorter, who is a 2026 offensive lineman with a Michigan offer. Bear has been to campus a couple of times. If Michigan goes the Brodie McWhorter route, they could have the inside track for Bear. That’s an interesting tie to watch. Overall, I think Chip Lindsey is going to expand the board and look at different names. The spring evaluation period will be big for him.”

Michigan landed the No. 1 quarterback and No. 1 overall recruit in the 2025 class in Belleville (Mich.) High prospect Bryce Underwood, who enrolled early. With Underwood on the roster, Michigan may need to take a quarterback in the same rankings range as McWhorter.

McWhorter made an early verbal commitment to West Virginia in June but has since backed off that pledge. He holds offers from Auburn, Florida State, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oregon, Wisconsin and others.

At 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, McWhorter is ranked as the No. 31 quarterback and No. 453 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 52 overall recruit in the state of Georgia for next cycle.

Michigan currently holds two commitments in its 2026 recruiting class — On300 Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin cornerback Brody Jennings and three-star Dallas (Texas) Parish Episcopal wide receiver Jaylen Pile.

Michigan’s 2026 recruiting class is currently ranked No. 35 nationally and No. 10 in the Big Ten, per the On3 Industry team recruiting rankings.
