Shanklin Recruitment
Michigan put an offer on the table for Shanklin last month and is already set to host him for an unofficial visit this weekend.
Shanklin is quickly rising up the U-M EDGE board and has high interest in the Wolverines.
“It was good (to get the Michigan offer) because growing up, I always watched Michigan and Ohio State,” Shanklin said. “So after talking to the coaches, seeing (pictures) of the weight room and stuff, it’s made me like it more. Big things for me are the weight room, academics and how football is.”
Michigan staffer Dylan Roney, who works closely with U-M’s pass rushers, is leading the way in his recruitment.
“(Roney) was working out (when he called) and he was saying how much they liked my film and saw a lot in me,” Shanklin said. “They also see me fitting in. He seems like a very cool coach and very cool person.”
Along with Michigan, Shanklin holds offers from Iowa, Kansas, Michigan State, Missouri, Notre Dame, Purdue, Rutgers, Texas, USC, West Virginia and others.
At 6-foot-5, 210 pounds, Shanklin is ranked as the No. 20 EDGE and No. 225 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 3 overall recruit in the state of Indiana for next cycle.
