Michigan notched a commitment from four-star New Orleans (La.) Archbishop Shaw wide receiver Jacob Washington on Monday afternoon.

Washington picked U-M over finalists Georgia Tech and Missouri.

Washington Recruitment

Michigan desperately needed a big-bodied wide receiver this cycle and pushed hard for Washington on his official visit over the weekend.

U-M wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy, a fellow Louisiana native, led the way in this recruitment and built a special connection with Washington.

Bellamy sealed the deal during Washington’s time in Ann Arbor. Now, Washington is ready to be a playmaker in the Maize and Blue.

“The offense is definitely a powerhouse,” Washington said. “Everything the team does from the wide receivers to the running backs to the tight ends to the quarterbacks to the offensive line moves in one smooth wheel. It was great to see every aspect of practice (in the spring). It was super competitive. The energy surrounding practice was second to none. They practiced with a purpose. It was fun to watch.

“I can definitely see myself fitting into Michigan’s offense. They put up huge points every week. A lot of the routes and the concepts are downfield. I like to consider myself a deep threat that can take the top off a defense. I can see myself catching touchdowns week-by-week in The Big House.”
