Wolverine TV: Breaking down new Michigan DL commit Roderick Pierce
Michigan picked up a verbal commitment from three-star defensive lineman Roderick Pierce just a day after head coach Jim Harbaugh made an in-home visit.
The Chicago (Ill.) Brother Rice product sided with Michigan over finalists Illinois and Texas. He also held offers from Auburn, Kentucky, Michigan State, Missouri, Purdue, Vanderbilt, Wisconsin and others.
The Wolverine’s EJ Holland shares his thoughts on Pierce and explains how the Wolverines were able to seal the deal with the late riser.

Pierce backed off of his pledge to Wisconsin in the fall and immediately began trending towards Michigan. U-M hosted him for an unofficial visit for the game against Michigan State and again for an official visit for the game against Illinois.
It was there where Pierce really got an in-depth look at the program and fell in love.
“I liked it a lot,” Pierce said. “I liked the facilities. I liked the people in the building, which is really the most important part. I had a good time out there. The environment was insane. It was the most people I’ve been around in my entire life. I liked Coach Herb (Ben Herbert) and Coach (Mike) Elston. I really liked Coach (Jim) Harbaugh, too.”

At 6-foot-3, 290 pounds, Pierce is ranked as the No. 61 defensive lineman and No. 581 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Consensus.
Pierce has an On3 NIL Valuation of $9.7K with 4,200 combined followers on Instagram and Twitter. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
