Wolverine TV: Breaking down new Michigan WR commit Phillip Wright
Michigan scored a commitment from three-star 2025 Destrehan (La.) High wide receiver Phillip Wright on Saturday.
The Wolverine’s EJ Holland shares his thoughts on Wright and more in the video above.
Wright Recruitment
Michigan extended an offer to Wright last November and made him a top priority throughout the offseason.
Wright made his first visit to U-M for the annual spring game and returned for his official visit last month. The Wolverines began trending on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine soon after the trip.
Michigan wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy, a fellow Louisiana native, was able to seal the deal with Wright and earn his commitment this weekend. Wright picked Michigan over fellow finalists Georgia and LSU.
Here is what Holland had to say about Wright.
“There is a lot you can do with Phillip Wright,” Holland said. “You can line him up as an outside wide receiver and have him stretch the field. You can put him in the slot and have him be a playmaker in various different ways. You can put him back as a kick returner or punt returner. When you have 10.4 speed, I think that’s a game changer. I think that’s what Michigan is really banking on.”
