Top 100 Monroe (N.C.) High safety Jordan Young flipped his commitment from Clemson to Michigan on Sunday afternoon.

The Wolverine’s EJ Holland shares his thoughts on Young in the video at the end of this story.

Young Recruitment

Michigan extended an offer to Young soon after the arrival of new Michigan secondary coach LaMar Morgan.

Morgan visited Young at his high school during the spring evaluation period and got him on campus for an official visit in the summer. Michigan made his top group, but Young always appeared to favor Clemson and NC State.

Young eventually committed to Clemson last month. However, Michigan was able to overcome distance and NIL right before signing day. The Wolverines completed the flip on Sunday.

Here is what Holland had to say about Young.

“Michigan recruited Young as a nickel,” Holland said. “The Wolverines are looking to get more Rood Moore types at the position. Young has terrific athleticism and closing speed. He’s also a longer athlete. Young shows really good ball skills and makes a ton of plays at wide receiver at the high school level. Young now gives Michigan three On3 Top 100 recruits in the secondary. It’s an amazing first haul for Michigan secondary coach LaMar Morgan.”

At 6-foot, 180 pounds, Young is ranked as the No. 8 safety and No. 99 overall prospect nationally, per On3. He is also ranked as the No. 5 overall recruit in the state of North Carolina.
