Michigan Football Lands Commitment From 2025 Florida Qb Carter Smith I Michigan Wolverines I #Goblue

Michigan landed a commitment from On300 2025 Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot quarterback Carter Smith this week.

Smith committed to Michigan over offers from Florida, Florida State, Miami, Ole Miss, Penn State, Texas A&M and others.

The Wolverine’s EJ Holland shares his thoughts on Smith and what his verbal pledge to the Wolverines means in the video above.

Smith Recruitment

Michigan made five-star Belleville (Mich.) High quarterback Bryce Underwood its top priority throughout the calendar year. However, that didn’t stop U-M quarterbacks coach Kirk Campbell from recruiting other prospects at the position.

Campbell saw Smith throw live in October and extended an offer during his first-ever unofficial visit for the game against Purdue earlier this month.

While Underwood is still on the board, Campbell pushed for Smith’s verbal commitment and earned it just a little more than week following the trip to Ann Arbor.

“It was awesome,” Smith said. “It was great to get up there and get around the coaching staff. I walked around the campus and got a feel for everything. I got a facility tour. Friday was mainly hanging around the coaches, the players and the people in the building. For it being my first game, it really impressed. It was definitely a sight to see.”

Smith passed for 3,104 yards and 29 touchdowns with six interceptions and also rushed for 692 yards and 19 touchdowns as a sophomore last season.

At 6-foot-3, 180 pounds, Smith is ranked as the No. 8 quarterback and No. 112 overall prospect nationally, per On3. He is also ranked as the No. 17 recruit in the state of Florida for next cycle.

Michigan now has three verbal commitments in its 2025 recruiting class – Smith, Top 100 Miami (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna defensive back Chris Ewald and four-star Howell (Mich.) High defensive lineman Bobby Kanka.
