The Wolverine’s EJ Holland breaks down the five highest ranked recruits set to visit Michigan this month, including five-star Nixa (Mo.) High offensive lineman Jackson Cantwell.

Cantwell Recruitment

Michigan extended an offer to Cantwell in February of last year and has made him one of the top priorities in the 2026 recruiting class.

The son of two former USA Olympians, Cantwell is perhaps the most coveted prospect in America and holds an offer from just about every program in the country. He has taken five trips to see Missouri, his in-state program. Georgia, Ohio State and Nebraska have all hosted him four times as well.

Michigan hosted Cantwell for his first visit in December. He is now set to make another unofficial visit on March 22.

Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore, offensive line coach Grant Newsome and general manager Sean Magee all visited Cantwell at his school during the winter contact period. Magee will likely play a key role in this recruitment as NIL is expected to be a big factor for Cantwell.

Ronsenhaus Sports represents Cantwell, and his On3 NIL valuation sits at $730,000.

Here is what Holland had to say about his recruitment.

“I had a chance to see Cantwell at the Under Armour All-America game this winter,” Holland said. “He has the height of a prototypical tackle and also has a terrific athletic background. However, Cantwell isn’t as nimble or as long you might expect. Still, Cantwell is one of the country’s premier prospects at a position that commands NIL. Michigan is making him a top priority and appears willing to spend on him as it continues to bolster its offensive line. Remember, Michigan already invested heavily there last cycle with elite prospects Ty Haywood and Andrew Babalola.”

At 6-foot-7, 305 pounds, Cantwell is ranked as the No. 1 offensive tackle and No. 1 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking.

Michigan currently has three verbal commits in its 2026 recruiting class — On300 Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin cornerback Brody Jennings, three-star Cartersville (Ga.) Cass offensive lineman Bear McWhorter and three-star Dallas (Texas) Parish Episcopal wide receiver Jaylen Pile.

Michigan entered the day with the No. 28 ranked 2026 recruiting class nationally, per the On3 Industry team recruiting rankings. Michigan is also ranked No. 11 in the Big Ten. Oregon currently has the top class in the conference.
