The Wolverine’s EJ Holland discussed several Michigan recruiting topics on the Tuesday edition of The Wolverine Live, including five-star LSU quarterback commit Bryce Underwood.

Watch the full episode in the video at the end of this story.

Underwood Recruitment

Michigan offered Underwood when he was still in middle school and made him a top priority before ultimately bowing out of his recruitment last fall.

The Wolverines landed On300 Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot quarterback Carter Smith, while Underwood gave LSU a verbal pledge just a couple of months later.

Underwood picked LSU over offers from Michigan, Alabama, Penn State, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas and others and has been solid to the Tigers ever since.

However, Michigan recently started turning up the heat on Underwood and has a competitive NIL offer on the table. While Underwood has yet to make a recruiting visit to Michigan this fall, he and those around him are listening to U-M.

Here is what Holland had to say about the situation:

“Michigan’s push for Bryce Underwood is real,” Holland said. “Sherrone Moore is personally recruiting Underwood. There is an NIL group that is Dave Portnoy that has put together a package for Bryce Underwood and his family. LSU is willing to counter. But again, Michigan has already put together that package and is willing to increase based on what LSU does. There are still some factors working for LSU. I think the money is going to be the most important factor, but there are other factors he will consider. It’s also important to note that Bryce will go back to LSU for his official visit next weekend.”

Underwood is ranked as the No. 1 overall recruit in the country, per the On3 Industry Ranking.

Michigan has 17 commits in its 2025 recruiting class — five-star Overland Park (Kan.)
