The Wolverine’s EJ Holland made his way to Florida over the weekend and saw several Michigan recruits, including four-star 2025 Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy linebacker Gavin Nix, who is currently committed to Miami.

Watch Holland talk about Nix and others in the video above.

Nix Recruitment

Michigan extended an offer to Nix way back in the spring of 2022.

However, contact between Michigan and Nix dipped off during the defensive staff overhaul this offseason. Nix eventually committed to Miami in early July but is keeping his options open.

Here is what Holland had to say about Nix’s recruitment.

“Michigan offered Nix early in the process before things fell off for a bit,” Holland said. “Obviously, he ended up committing to Miami this summer. However, new Michigan linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary has been recruiting him behind the scenes. Jean-Mary actually built a strong relationship with Nix during his time at Tennessee, so that should help the Wolverines here. Nix told me that he plans on making a visit to Michigan in November, so we’ll see where things go from there.”

At 5-foot-11, 225 pounds, Nix is ranked as the No. 15 linebacker and No. 157 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 24 overall recruit in the state of Florida for next cycle.
