Wolverine TV: Can Michigan keep Top 100 CB commit Chris Ewald?
The Wolverine’s EJ Holland and Zach Libby discussed several Michigan recruiting topics on the Tuesday edition of The Wolverine Live recruiting show, including the latest on Top 100 2025 Miami (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna defensive back and Michigan commit Chris Ewald.
Watch and listen to Holland share the latest on Michigan recruiting above.
The Ewald Recruitment
Ewald made a surprising decision when he committed to Michigan in December over a number of major offers.
But his recruitment may not be over just yet. Ewald has made visits to Auburn, Florida State and Miami, where his good friend and teammate, Top 100 2024 safety Zaquan Patterson, recently committed. So is Ewald still solid to the Wolverines?
Here is what Holland had to say about the situation:
“Ewald is still happy with his commitment to Michigan,” Holland said. “There isn’t any indication that he is close to flipping or anything like that. But he has left the door open for other programs. You have Auburn and Tennessee really involved. The two schools that scare me the most are Florida State and Miami. He did have a Florida State decal on his helmet, which I saw some people were concerned about. But Miami is the school most likely to flip him if he does. Miami already landed Zaquan Patterson…. that will give the Hurricanes a big boost. Ewald told me himself that Patterson being committed to Miami is going to help in his recruitment.”
At 5-foot-11, 161 pounds, Ewald is ranked as the No. 8 cornerback and No. 86 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 17 overall recruit in the state of Florida for next cycle.
