The Wolverine’s EJ Holland and Zach Libby discussed several Michigan recruiting topics on the Tuesday edition of The Wolverine Live recruiting show, including the recruitment of three-star Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day wide receiver Jordan Shipp.

Watch and listen to Holland and Libby share the latest on U-M recruiting below.

Shipp made an official visit to Michigan last month and is now set to announce his commitment on July 16.

Right now, Michigan has a 79.0 percent lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. However, North Carolina received his last OV and is quietly confident about this recruitment. Holland believes this is still a tight race.

“I have no reason to make a prediction right now even with less than a week to go before his decision,” Holland said. “I mentioned it on last week’s show and said ‘I’m really afraid of North Carolina.’ I’m still really afraid of North Carolina. I would not be surprised if North Carolina lands Jordan Shipp. The positives for Michigan are everything that was mentioned. He is a teammate of (Michigan commits) Jadyn Davis and Channing Goodwin. Both of those guys have been recruiting him hard. He has a tremendous relationship with (Michigan wide receivers coach) Ron Bellamy. He made two visits in June that were extremely positive.

“North Carolina offers him a chance to stay closer to home. There is optimism coming out of Chapel Hill. There is still some optimism coming out of Ann Arbor. Right now, I don’t think this is a lock for Michigan. I think this could go in either direction.”

At 6-foot-2, 183 pounds, Shipp is ranked as the No. 70 wide receiver and No. 413 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Industry Rankings.

Michigan has 25 commits in its 2024 recruiting class. Of the names in the group are Top 100 Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day quarterback Jadyn Davis, Top 100 Rochester (Mich.)
