Wolverine TV: Drafting the perfect 2024 Michigan recruiting team

The Wolverine’s EJ Holland and Zach Libby held a 2024 Michigan recruiting draft on the Tuesday edition of The Wolverine Live recruiting show.

The rules were pretty simply. Only recruits that have visited Michigan and/or have Michigan in their top groups were eligible to be selected. Michigan commits were also eligible.

The roster breakdown was modeled after the NFL Street video game and consisted of seven players on both sides of the ball: QB, RB, WR/TE, WR/TE, OL, OL, OL, DL, DL, DL, LB, DB, DB, DB.

Libby took Top 100 Chicago (Ill.) St. Ignatius defensive lineman Justin Scott with the No. 1 overall pick and explained his decision by saying the following:

“He can play the nose all the way to the five-technique. He is the most dominating force in the 2024 recruiting class, in my opinion, and arguably should be a five-star.”

Holland followed that up by selecting Washington (D.C.) Friendship’s Dylan Stewart, the No. 1 ranked EDGE nationally, and Top 100 Olney (Md.) Good Counsel linebacker Aaron Chiles. Here is what Holland said about his picks.

“I absolutely love Dylan Stewart. He is a man amongst boys. He’s a five-star level prospect. I believe On3 has him ranked as the No. 5 overall recruit, and, like I said, he’s the No. 1 EDGE in the country. I need guys to get after the quarterback on my team. If I can’t have Justin Scott clogging the middle, I’m for sure going to have the best pass rusher in the game, and that is Dylan Stewart.

“Aaron Chiles very much resembles Junior Colson. He’s a guy that just named Michigan his leader coming off his visit. He’s set to return in March. There is a lot to like about where the Wolverines stand. He can run sideline-to-sideline, he loves to hit people in the mouth and he can drop back into coverage.”
