Clarke Recruitment

Clarke earned an offer from Michigan after camping with the Wolverines in Ann Arbor last summer. Clarke has since emerged as a top target for U-M this cycle.

Michigan secondary coach LaMar Morgan made an in-home visit with Clarke during the winter contact period and is making a hard push for his services.

Clarke is set to return to Michigan for an unofficial visit on April 12. He will then make his official visit on June 13.

Here is what Holland had to say about his recruitment:

“Clarke is a versatile defensive back who may play cornerback, nickel or safety at the next level,” Holland said. “Michigan likes his length at corner, but he’s the type of prospect who could really excel in the nickel role. I saw him play last season, and he did well as a true outside corner. Michigan has emerged as a really strong contender in this recruitment and has the lead, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. I still think Michigan has some work to do here, but there is no doubt the Wolverines are in a strong position going into spring visits. Michigan will have a chance to impress Clarke twice this offseason.”

Along with Michigan, Clarke has official visits scheduled with Kentucky, Miami, SMU and Syracuse. Clarke is also considering taking trips to Florida State, Tennessee and Virginia Tech.

At 6-foot, 165 pounds, Clarke is ranked as the No. 14 safety and No. 171 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 6 overall recruit in the state of Virginia this cycle.

Michigan has the lead for Clarke on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 22.7 percent chance of landing him. Kentucky is in second place with a 16.0 percent chance of landing him.

Michigan currently has three verbal commits in its 2026 recruiting class — On300 Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin cornerback Brody Jennings, three-star Cartersville (Ga.) Cass offensive lineman Bear McWhorter and three-star Dallas (Texas) Parish Episcopal wide receiver Jaylen Pile.

Michigan has the No. 34 ranked 2026 recruiting class nationally, per the On3 Industry team recruiting rankings. Michigan is also ranked No. 11 in the Big Ten. Oregon currently has the top class in the conference.
