Wolverine TV: Game clips of Michigan TE commit Deakon Tonielli

The Wolverine’s EJ Holland was back on the road last week and saw four-star Michigan tight end commit Deakon Tonielli in game action.
Tonielli missed the week prior due to a minor foot injury but returned to the Oswego (Ill.) High roster and recorded three receptions for 73 yards and two touchdowns in just a quarter and a half of play. Oswego took down an outmatched Romeoville (Ill.) High team, 56-7.
Here are full game clips and analysis from the contest.
Tonielli committed to Michigan in mid-June. He picked the Wolverines over offers from Cincinnati, Illinois, Michigan State, Minnesota, Purdue, Tennessee, West Virginia and others.
Michigan tight ends coach Grant Newsome led the way in Tonielli’s recruitment and played a big role in winning him over.

“At first, I was a little worried because I really liked Coach Jay (Harbaugh),” Tonielli said. “It was a little heartbreaking. But I talked to Coach Newsome for a while after that, and we’ve built a connection. It’s nice to get that structure back. I might not be able to talk to Coach Jay as much, but I’m building a great connection with the coach that I could be with at my position. Coach Newsome is just a great guy. I feel really comfortable with him.”
At 6-foot-6, 215 pounds, Tonielli is ranked as the No. 22 tight end and No. 369 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Consensus.
