The Wolverine’s EJ Holland was in Nashville over the weekend seeing 2024 On300 Michigan linebacker commit Mason Curtis in game action.

Curtis recorded eight tackles and an interception in Nashville (Tenn.) Ensworth’s 10-7 loss to Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy on Thursday night.

Watch clips from the contest and get Holland’s analysis below.

Curtis picked Michigan over offers from Kentucky, Michigan State, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, West Virginia and others in June.

“I felt at home at Michigan from the time I stepped foot on campus to the time I left,” Curtis said this summer. “My head coach told me as long as I feel like it’s home then I wouldn’t see why you wouldn’t commit. I liked the coaches. They are real. They aren’t giving me anything fake. I also love what they have to offer after football.”

Curtis has remained completely solid to Michigan and visited twice this fall, including earlier this month for Michigan’s blowout win over Big Ten foe Penn State.

Curtis is the third Nashville-area recruit to side with the Wolverines over the last four cycles, joining U-M freshman cornerback Myles Pollard and sophomore linebacker Junior Colson, who, like Curtis, was part of the NPA training organization.

Curtis is part of a two-man 2024 Michigan recruiting class that also features rising Wallingford (Conn.) Choate Rosemary Hall defensive lineman Manuel Beigel, who announced his verbal pledge in July.

At 6-foot-4, 190 pounds, Curtis is ranked as the No. 13 linebacker and No. 143 overall prospect nationally, per On3. He is also ranked as the No. 3 overall recruit in the state of Tennessee.

Curtis was originally recruited as a linebacker but has the measureables that best project at the EDGE position. Michigan loves his versatility and will monitor his development before making a call on a true position fit.
