On300 2025 Michigan running back target Bud Coombs was in playoff action this week as his Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha team fell to Olney (Md.) Good Counsel, 7-0.

The Wolverine’s EJ Holland was onsite and captured exclusive clips from the contest. Watch highlights of Coombs in the video above.

Coombs Recruitment

Michigan has been making Coombs a top priority on the running back board for next cycle.

Prospects at the position have been flying off the board early, but U-M assistant Mike Hart is known for finding his type of backs and developing them into quality ball carriers at the next level. Coombs is a shorter, speedy back in the same mold as recent takes Cole Cabana and Micah Ka’apana.

It’s tough to get a true gauge on Coombs’ recruitment as he rarely does interviews. However, Michigan is a contender and is looking to get him on campus soon.

Along with Michigan, Coombs holds offers from Boston College, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Penn State, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Wisconsin and others.

Penn State currently has the lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 65.1 percent chance of landing him. However, the Nittany Lions already have two commits at the position.

At 5-foot-9, 170 pounds, Howard is ranked as the No. 23 running back and No. 287 overall prospect nationally, per On3. He is also ranked as the No. 9 overall recruit in the state of Maryland for next cycle.
