The Wolverine’s EJ Holland discussed several Michigan recruiting topics on the Wednesday edition of The Wolverines Live show, including the commitment of Top 100 2026 Cocoa (Fla.) High quarterback Brady Hart.

Hart Recruitment
Michigan extended an offer to Hart earlier this offseason after his impressive performance at the Elite 11 regional in Orlando.
Hart quickly ascended up the quarterback board and became the priority for the Wolverines in the 2026 recruiting class.
Hart made his first visit to Michigan over the weekend and enjoyed his time on campus as he bonded with new head coach Sherrone Moore and lead recruiter Kirk Campbell. The Wolverines were able to earn his commitment soon after he departed from Ann Arbor.
Holland was the first to put in a prediction and had this to say about Hart as a prospect.
“When you look at the film, you see a big, athletic pocket passer,” Holland said. “He’s 6-foot-5, 185 pounds. He’s really filling out his frame nicely. He can throw the deep ball. He has a lot of zip on his passes. This is the best arm talent that Michigan has landed since JJ McCarthy. When you look at Carter Smith, he has pure arm strength. But when I say arm talent, Brady Hart has the arm strength, the ball placement and the accuracy. He’s more polished in terms of being a pure passer. Now, Carter can do a lot more with his legs, but Brady is very athletic as well. I think they complement each other with Carter being a dynamic athlete and Brady being an advanced passer with some upside left, too.

Ohio State HC gives blunt answer
“Much like Carter Smith, Brady Hart comes from a baseball background as well. His father, Alex, played for the Pittsburgh Pirates. That upside is still there as he continues to develop. The Hart-Smith combination is really a dream combination.”
An athletic pocket passer, Hart threw for 3,759 yards and 41 touchdowns en route to leading Cocoa to a Florida state championship as a sophomore.
Along with Michigan, Hart holds offers from Clemson, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Texas A&M and others.
At 6-foot-5, 185 pounds, Hart is ranked as the No. 9 quarterback and No. 92 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 15 overall recruit in the state of Florida for next cycle.
Hart is the first commit in Michigan’s 2026 recruiting class.
