Moore discussed the competition along the Michigan offensive line and agreed with head coach Jim Harbaugh that there are at least 10 starting caliber players in the trenches.

“Competition only makes you better, so the more guys that are playing at a high level, the better,” Moore said. “It just keeps breeding high energy, keeps breeding the preparation, keeps breeding passion and the physicality that we want at every position. I want those guys to continue to keep striving to be the starter.

“Right now, I feel like we have 10 guys — we have 11, 12 — that we could play in the game, so we’re super excited about the depth. It’s the most depth we’ve had. We’re just going to keep going, and I’m excited for the next few days and the rest of training camp.”

Minter, meanwhile, echoed what his players have said about Michigan’s increased focus on the pass rush. The Wolverines had 37 sacks last season but feel they can be better in that area, and they’ve put in the work so far to do so.

“I feel good about where we’re at,” Minter said. “I think the biggest thing is you can tell the amount of work they’ve put into it in those individual sessions for themselves outside of here. So, they’ve worked really hard.

“I think the inside guys and the edge guys are working really well together, particularly [senior] Jaylen [Harrell] … he’s having a really good camp. He’s the same player from [last year] … very dependable, does everything right, but he’s also starting to become an even better rusher. I look forward to seeing his production this year.”

Michigan opens its 2023 season Sept. 2 against East Carolina at The Big House, before taking on UNLV and Bowling Green to round out the non conference slate. The Wolverines are back to back defending Big Ten champions and have made the last two College Football Playoffs.
