Michigan press conference notes
• Jenkins talked about the energy he brings to the defense. He walked in with sunglasses on joking that his future is “bright,” and he appears to be a player capable of having a breakout season for Michigan. He also discussed how he got his nickname as the team’s “mutant.”
• Keegan remarked that the Michigan offensive line can be better than last season, a theme surrounding the group this season. It’s significant considering the group won the Joe Moore Award in 2021, but they believe they have the pieces to build on last year’s success.
• Kolesar and Moody discussed what makes Michigan’s special teams units so great. Based on conversations with other players across the country, Moody believes the Wolverines work more on special teams than anyone else. Both players also think special teams coordinator Jay Harbaugh’s unique way of teaching — and making complex ideas seem simple — allows the players to grasp what he’s putting forth.
