Wolverine TV podcast: Tide turning even more in Michigan-OSU rivalry, NIL updates, hockey
On this episode of the podcast, TheWolverine.com‘s Clayton Sayfie, Chris Balas and Anthony Broome discuss Michigan Wolverines football‘s hot streak on the recruiting trail, NIL updates, hockey in the NCAA Tournament and more.
Michigan just beat out Ohio State for two recruits, including one from Ohio in four-star running back Jordan Marshall. The Wolverines have won two straight games over the Buckeyes on the field, but now it’s translating on the recruiting trail, and those in the state down south aren’t happy about it.
“The fact that he comes from Ohio and was an Ohio State, I guess, lean, or priority, whatever you want to call it, makes it even better,” Balas said.
“On the surface, you want to be able to land that elite, top-100 type of talent that has eluded Michigan at the position for the last couple years.
“You look at what Michigan has done with the run game over the last couple years — if you’re a running back or an offensive lineman or running back, why wouldn’t you want to come to this university right now? Back to back Joe Moore Awards, back to back seasons where you had a two headed monster at running back…”
We also break down the tide turning in the rivalry in other areas, and how Michigan could continue its recruiting momentum. Four-star quarterback Jadyn Davis has taken his recruitment to the spring, which isn’t surprising to those who were paying attention, but appears close to shutting it down after his most recent visit to Ann Arbor. Balas has a strong take about Michigan’s chances with the Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day product.
NIL is a big factor in recruiting these days, there’s no way around it, and Michigan is making some headway in that area. We discuss the latest developments there, including a meeting that took place earlier this week.
