The Wolverine’s EJ Holland recently made his way to Chester (Va.) Thomas Dale to watch Top 100 Michigan cornerback target Shamari Earls, who is currently committed to South Carolina.

Earls Recruitment

Earls committed to South Carolina last month and is set to make his official visit there on June 21. However, Earls is leaving the door open for a handful of other programs.

Earls is also taking a summer official visit to Virginia and is working on scheduling trips to Michigan, Georgia and Texas A&M.

New Michigan secondary coach LaMar Morgan offered Earls soon after arriving in Ann Arbor and made his way to Chester (Va.) Thomas Dale to visit with Earls and his father earlier this month. The meeting really moved the needle and solidified Michigan as a team to watch in this recruitment.

Here is what Holland had to say about U-M’s pursuit of Earls.

“LaMar Morgan went out to see him at the end of the spring evaluation period and had a meeting with him and his father,” Holland said. “Michigan is now in the picture for Shamari Earls. He just committed to South Carolina last month, but that meeting with Morgan definitely changed things. Earls is now looking to get to Michigan at some point this summer if not for an official visit in the fall. I think Michigan has worked its way back in here. South Carolina is a pretty heavy NIL school, so it will be interesting to see if that plays a role.”
