Michigan rolled through the non conference season, even though there was some drama in the 31-6 win over Bowling Green last weekend. Now it’s time for Big Ten play, where the Wolverines are looking to defend their back to back conference championships, earn a berth to the College Football Playoff and again compete for a national championship.

“We’ve got a little more juice when we were talking to some players and coaches this week, and they’re going to be a little bit tougher — just a little bit,” Sayfie said.

“And for Rutgers! That’s the funny part about this,” Balas chimed in. “It’s just like, normally, you’d be like, ‘Oh, yeah, ho hum.’ But it’s a step up in competition from what they’ve seen. They’ve got a good defense — a solid defense. Who knows how good they are? We’re going to find out about a lot of teams this week, frankly. And Rutgers being one of them, Michigan. Then again, maybe not. Remember a couple years ago Rutgers played Michigan to a stand still for most of the game there, and the Michigan went on to win the Big Ten and Rutgers was crappy. However, you hope that U-M will respond against better competition, and I think they will. I think having their head coach back means something.”

“The slate this weekend in general — we had to kind of gut through that slate last weekend as college football fans — but this week’s slate is incredible. Looking forward to seeing what Michigan does in their Big Ten opener.”
