Michigan is continuing to make On300 Kankakee (Ill.) High defensive back Jyaire Hill a top overall priority this cycle.

Hill visited Michigan on multiple occasions this offseason, including an official visit in June and an unofficial visit for the BBQ at The Big House at the end of July. Michigan is a top contender along with Big Ten bunkmate Illinois.

Hill is expected to make his decision at some point this fall. The Wolverine’s EJ Holland shares the latest on Hill’s recruitment and talks about what makes him such a pivotal target for Michigan this cycle.

As mentioned, Hill made his official visit to Michigan in June. It was there where he had an opportunity to truly bond with Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh and the rest of the staff.

“It was something different,” Hill said. “We bonded better. I got to spend more time with Harbaugh. It was good to see him show his face more. He said he’s going to come out to one of my games this season. Harbaugh actually told me he was going to get a bowling alley in there for me (laughs).

“I felt more connected with the players and the coaches. I was with AJ Henning and Keon (Sabb). AJ is a Tik Tok star, so he’s a popular guy. He talked to me about the coaches and everything there.”

Michigan co-defensive coordinator Steve Clinkscale has been leading the way with Hill and is making an aggressive push for his services.

“Coach Clink is like a businessman,” Hill said. “He can play sometimes, but he knows when to be about business. He always asks me when I’m going to commit and things like that. He tells me that I can come in and make an impact at corner. He showed me the depth chart, and I would be in a position to show my talent.”

At 6-foot-2, 170 pounds, Hill is ranked as the No. 23 cornerback and No. 200 overall prospect nationally, per On3.
