The Wolverine’s EJ Holland discussed several Michigan recruiting topics on the Tuesday edition of The Wolverine Live recruiting show, including the recruitment of five-star Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga EDGE Carter Meadows.

Meadows Recruitment

Michigan extended an offer to Meadows in August of last year and got him on campus for his first visit in the fall for the game against USC.

Meadows returned to Michigan for another unofficial visit this spring and took in a practice and was back in Ann Arbor for his official visit this weekend.

Michigan is in Meadows’ top group along with Ohio State, Penn State and South Carolina.

Here is what Holland had to say about where the Wolverines stand in this recruitment.

“I think Michigan is in a really good spot coming out of his official visit,” Holland said. “Meadows is a terrific student in the classroom and could very well be this cycle’s Andrew Babalola. You may not have to break the bank with NIL as Meadows is looking for an elite blend of academics and development — similar to Babalola. Meadows is that tall, long pass rusher that Michigan didn’t land last cycle. They have to close with him.”

Meadows is from the same high school that produced Michigan offensive lineman Evan Link and defensive back Kainoa Winston.

At 6-foot-6, 225 pounds, Meadows is ranked as the No. 2 EDGE and No. 6 overall prospect nationally, per On3. He is also ranked as the No. 1 overall recruit in D.C. for this cycle.

Michigan has 13 commits in its 2026 recruiting class — Davis, Top 100 Billings (Mont.) West tight end Matt Ludwig, Top 100 Newberry Park (Calif.) High quarterback Brady Smigiel, On300 Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin cornerback Brody Jennings, On300 Chicago (Ill.) Simeon EDGE McHale Blade, three-star Cartersville (Ga.) Cass offensive lineman Bear McWhorter, three-star Washington (D.C.) St. John’s EDGE Tariq Boney, three-star Denver (Colo.) Mullen tight end Mason Bonner, three-star Liberty Hill (Texas) High defensive lineman Alister Vallejo, three-star Dallas (Texas) Parish Episcopal wide receiver Jaylen Pile, three-star Hinsdale (Ill.) Central kicker Micah Drescher, Columbus (Ohio) St. Francis DeSales running back Jonathan Brown and Phoenix (Ariz.) O’Connor long snapper Colton Dermer.

Michigan entered the day with the No. 23 ranked 2026 recruiting class nationally, per the On3 Industry team recruiting rankings. Michigan is also ranked No. 12 in the Big Ten. USC currently has the top class in the conference.

Michigan also has the No. 12 ranked transfer portal class this cycle, per the On3 transfer portal index.
