Michigan is set to host Yale wide receiver David Pantelis for a visit this weekend, he told The Wolverine early Friday morning.

Pantelis has been in communication with the Michigan staff over the last few weeks and has high interest in the program.

“I’m just looking for an opportunity to play big time football at a big time program, and I think Michigan offers the best of both worlds academically and athletically,” Pantelis said.

While Pantelis is coming up from the FCS level, he was ultra-productive at Yale this past season as he finished with finished with 69 receptions for 1,018 yards and 11 touchdowns in 11 games en route to being named first-team All Ivy League.

Pantelis, who has one year of eligibility remaining, had one of the best games of his career in Yale’s season finale, posting seven receptions for 148 yards in a win over rival Harvard.

Pantelis missed most of the 2023 season due to injury. As a sophomore in 2022, Pantelis led Yale in receptions (39) and receiving yards 518. Pantelis played in eight games as a freshman.

Michigan has been looking to add more size to its wide receiver room and already landed a commitment from Indiana transfer Donaven McCulley (6-5). However, Pantelis projects as more of a slot at 5-foot-11, 200 pounds.

Purdue, West Virginia and Stanford are other schools in the mix for Pantelis.

Pantelis is currently ranked as the No. 79 wide receiver and No. 403 overall player in the transfer portal, per On3.

As a recruit, Pantelis was unranked coming out of Pittsburgh (Pa.) Upper Saint Clair. He picked Yale over offers from a handful of other Ivy League programs.

Michigan appears to be in a strong spot for Pantelis going into the visit and is also trending up for UConn wide receiver transfer Skyler Bell, who made a visit late last month. Bell is expected to make a decision in the near future.

Michigan has landed eight players out of the transfer portal — quarterback Mikey Keene (Fresno State), running back Justice Haynes (Alabama), linebacker Troy Bowles (Georgia), wide receiver Donaven McCulley (Indiana), offensive lineman Brady Norton (Cal Poly), cornerback Tevis Metcalf (Arkansas), safety TJ Metcalf (Arkansas) and defensive tackle Damon Payne Jr. (Alabama).

Michigan has the No. 1 ranked transfer portal class in the Big Ten and No. 3 nationally, per the On3 Team Transfer Portal Index. The Wolverines currently sit behind Ole Miss and Texas Tech.
