Thus far in the transfer portal, Mississippi State has encountered success on a weekly basis. That trend continues on Saturday when former Boston College transfer guard and rising senior Claudell Harris committed to Mississippi State.

The 6-foot-3 and 190-pound Harris is currently on an official visit to Mississippi State this weekend and also officially visited Texas A&M last weekend. The Hahnville, La., native began his college career at Charleston Southern and spent two seasons there before transferring to Boston College last season.

Harris becomes the third transfer addition for Mississippi State head coach Chris Jans and his staff this offseason. He joins former Penn State guard Kanye Clary and former Miami center Michael Nwoko, who committed to State earlier this week.

This past season at Boston College, Harris started 28 of 35 games and helped the Eagles advance to the second round of the NIT with a 20-16 record. Harris averaged 31.7 minutes a game and was Boston College’s second leading scorer behind Quinten Post, a former Mississippi State transfer. Harris averaged 13.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists a game for Boston College and made 88 three-pointers, which ranked 6th in the ACC. Harris shot 40.3% from the field, 37% from 3 point range and 71.2% at the foul line.

In his sophomore and final season at Charleston Southern, Harris averaged 17.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists a game. As a freshman at Charleston Southern, Harris averaged 10.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists a game.
