Montana State transfer forward Brandon Walker commits to Mississippi State

Mississippi State head coach Chris Jans and his staff put the finishing touches on the 2025-26 roster on Friday. The Bulldogs added former Montana State transfer forward Brandon Walker, per his social media post.
The 6-foot-7 and 250-pound Walker began his college career at Texas-Arlington before playing the past two seasons at Montana State. Walker, who has one season of remaining eligibility, played his prep career at Faith (Texas) Family, the same school as 2025 State signee King Grace.
Earlier this week Walker removed his name from the NBA Draft and he also drew interest from Nebraska, Georgia, Oklahoma, Xavier, SMU and San Diego State among others. Walker becomes the sixth transfer addition for Jans and company this offseason, joining guards Ja’Borri McGhee and Jayden Epps, wing/guard Amier Ali, forward Achor Achor and center Quincy Ballard.
This past season at Montana State, Walker started all 29 games and averaged 21.2 minutes a game. In those 29 games, he had 25 double-digit scoring outputs and averaged 14.7 points and 4.9 rebounds a game. Walker scored 19 or more points in six games this past season, including a career-best 31-performance against Cal-Riverside.
Also this past season, Walker shot 52.8% from the field, 38.6% from 3 point range and 54.5% at the foul line.
In Walker’s sophomore season and first year at Montana State, he averaged 13.1 points and 4.0 rebounds a game. In that season Walker shot 65.% from the field, 31.0% from 3 point territory and 57.9% at the foul line. Walker also helped the Bobcats win the Big Sky Conference Tournament to secure a bid in the NCAA Tournament. Walker had 14 points and six rebounds in that 2024 NCAA Tournament loss against Grambling State in overtime.
In Walker’s freshman season at Texas-Arlington, he played in 32 games and had 12 starts while averaging 18 minutes a game. Walker averaged 6.6 points and 4.3 rebounds in his lone season at Texas-Arlington.
