Former Oklahoma transfer receiver Brenen Thompson signs with Mississippi State
After an early run of collecting new transfer commitments on the defensive side of the ball, Mississippi State added its first offensive player from the portal on Friday.
Former Oklahoma transfer receiver Brenen Thompson officially signed with the Bulldogs on Friday per a report from On3’s Pete Nakos. Thompson began his college career at Texas before spending the past two seasons with the Sooners.
This past season the former On3 four-star prospect totaled 19 catches for 230 yards and two touchdowns. In the past two seasons the Spearman, Texas, native combined for 23 catches for 503 yards and four touchdowns. The 5-foot-9 and 165-pound Thompson is expected to play outside receiver for the Bulldogs and has one season of remaining eligibility.
So far this offseason, Mississippi State has lost two of its top receivers to the transfer portal in rising senior Kevin Coleman and rising sophomore Mario Craver. The Bulldogs must also replace receiver Kelly Akharaiyi, a former UTEP receiver that is out of eligibility.
