2026 receiver Camden Capehart breaks down Mississippi State decision
It was a day of give and take for Mississippi State on the recruiting trail. After losing a 2026 receiver commitment earlier on Sunday, the Bulldogs added a 2026 receiver commitment in Camden Capehart of Winnsboro (Texas) High School.
The 5-foot-9 and 155-pound Capehart announced his Bulldog decision on Sunday and became the fourth 2026 commitment in State’s class. He joins On3 four-star running back Damarius Yates, On3 three-star running back Jaeden Hill and On3 three-star defensive back Iverson McCoy. 2026 receiver and On3 three-star prospect Kenny Darby of Airline (La.) High School decommitted from the class on Sunday, as well.
Capehart was among several 2026 visitors at State’s 45-20 win over UMass on Saturday and he initially earned his Bulldog offer this past summer following his camp performance, which featured a sub-4.4 forty time.
“The atmosphere was amazing,” Capehart remarked. “Me and the coaches just have a great connection. It felt like home when I was on the visit and I committed.”
Capehart also holds offers from Arizona State, California, Marshall, UNLV, Texas State and North Texas among others. During his time on State’s campus for the homecoming victory over UMass, he was also impressed with State’s fanbase.
“The game was great, too,” added Capehart. “All of the fans really care about the football team and you can see that. I also like how their coaches are in person.”
Naturally, Capehart studied State’s offensive showing in the 45-20 win on Saturday. He noticed all of the big plays in the pass game and run game, and is familiar with Jeff Lebby’s style of offense.
“Their offense is just like the one my high school runs,” Capehart noted. “I love it. I think I will fit in their offense perfectly.”

Since the summer months, Capehart has steadily built close bonds with Lebby and receivers coach Chad Bumphis. And that played a factor in Capehart’s decision on Sunday.
“I love both of them,” mentioned Capehart. “Me and Coach Bump text and stay in contact a lot. That ended up being a big thing for me and my decision.”
Capehart is still in the middle of his junior season and it’s still considered to be in the early stages of his recruiting process. But he had no second thoughts about pulling the trigger on his Bulldog future.
“I think it was a great decision,” Capehart explained. “Me and my 7-on-7 coach Sean Cooper talked about it and that made it easier for me. I felt right at home on that visit.”
So far this season, Capehart has helped Winnsboro (Texas) High School post a perfect 7-0 mark in the Class 3A ranks. Due to the dominance of the season, he has yet to play in a second half this season but has already totaled 38 catches for 985 yards and 18 touchdowns.
