Running back Davon Booth announces return for another season at Mississippi State
Davon Booth hit his stride late in the 2024 season for Mississippi State and now Bulldog fans get to watch him for another season. As reported last month by Maroon and White Daily, the Bulldog running back intends to return for another season and he officially announced that on Tuesday.
Once the 2024 season ended, Booth started looking at his preparations for the 2025 NFL Draft. However, due to the recent NCAA ruling involving former juco players, Booth was rewarded another year of college eligibility.
This past season Booth led Mississippi State with 152 carries for 759 yards and five touchdowns. The Las Vegas, Nevada, native was also a weapon in the passing game with 13 catches for 164 yards and four touchdowns.
After his juco career at Ceritos (Calif.) College, Booth played one season at Utah State before transferring to Mississippi State last summer. At Utah State, Booth totaled 805 rushing yards with six touchdowns on the ground.

As noted, Booth played his best football down the stretch of this past season. In November, he collected 125 rushing yards against Tennessee and next time out, he had 124 yards against Missouri.
With the another season of Booth, the Bulldogs’ backfield looks pretty solid heading into the 2025 campaign. Mississippi State also returns Johnnie Daniels (540 rushing yards and four touchdowns) and Xavier Gayten to the backfield while Seth Davis looks to return from a 2023 injury. Then on Christmas Eve, Mississippi State added former South Alabama tailback Fluff Bothwell to the mix, who was rated as the nation’s No. 3 transfer tailback by On3.
