It’s baseball season yet again.

The Major League Baseball season began last week and has already brought some excitement to the table in just a few short days. That excitement includes plenty of Mississippi State flavor – led by Diamond Dawg legend Jake Mangum making his big league debut last week.

Mangum made a major impact in his second game going 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI and a double. The hope is that he gets some extended time in the league after finally hearing the call.

The State legend is one of 10 former Bulldogs that are active in the league with several more likely in and out this year. A few players made moves in the offseason like Nathaniel Lowe going to Washington and Adam Frazier making his return to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Jordan Westburg is back looking to build on his breakthrough season with the Baltimore Orioles while Brent Rooker is hoping to continue his great run with Oakland. State also has veteran arms Kendall Graveman, Brandon Woodruff and JP France working back recovering from injuries last season.

Last week, Lowe and Rooker hit more home runs and Mangum continued to hit the baseball as he gets on a five-game hitting streak and has reached base in all six games of his young career.
