This year’s NFL playoffs will be well represented with Mississippi State football players and even more are being recognized for a fantastic season on the field.

The Associated Press put together its NFL All-Pro team after the regular season was concluded and the Bulldogs have players on them yet again. This year, three former State greats earned recognition with one of them landing a position for the first time in his career.

A regular on the All-Pro list is Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones. Since entering the league, Jones has become one of the most dominant linemen in the entire NFL. The former second round pick has far outplayed his initial worth and earned an All-Pro selection for the sixth time in his nine years in the league, including landing on the list five years in a row.

Jones was picked as a first-team interior lineman along with Pittsburgh’s Cameron Heyward. It was the third consecutive season he’s earned first-team honors. During the 2024 season, Jones had 37 tackles with 9.0 TFL, 5.0 sacks and a forced fumble. His 80.5 sacks are the third most in the franchise’s history and the most among any defensive tackle.

The veteran defender is on track for a Hall of Fame bid as he’s already won three Super Bowl championships and his Chiefs are the No. 1 seed in the AFC heading into the playoffs.

Also making the list yet again was New Orleans Saints’ defensive back J.T. Gray. The Clarksdale native has carved out a niche in the NFL as a special teamer and it has earned him three All-Pro selections and a Pro Bowl.

Gray is a regular as captain on the Saints team and a critical part of what the franchise has done in his seven years. He’s played 98 career games and just eclipsed 100 career tackles this season.

Making his debut as an All-Pro selection is Jacksonville Jaguars punter Logan Cook.

Cook, a native of Columbia, just capped what could have been his best season in the NFL. He had 68 punts this year with a career-high 49.4 yards per punt and a 73-yarder in a game earlier this year. He was tied for fourth in the NFL with 34 punts downed inside the 20.

Cook currently sits as the NFL leader all-time in net yards per punt and was named to his first Pro Bowl of his career this year.
