Jaden Crumedy: Q&A - Bye Week
Q: You guys have a chance to recuperate with the open date, what are you doing for yourself and what are you guys doing in practice this week?
A: I’d say that there’s been competition everywhere at practice. Everybody is just trying to get better each and every day, and still having our mind focussed on the season as well, but just taking care of our bodies and doing what we can do right now.
Q: How eager are you to get some rest yourself, but also get some of the injured players in your group back?
A: It’s a great feeling to get some rest and take care of your body. Just the chance to feel better after doing so much. It’s just a great feeling to have everybody, and I’m looking forward to (everybody being healthy).
Q: How would you assess where the defense is at halfway through the year?
A: I’d say we’re in a good state, you know, the only thing we can do is just keep getting better, try to get everybody to perfect their craft and just keep striving for the rest of the season, and just do better than what we have done.
Q: Going off that, how important is this bye week for the defense to sit down and figure out what needs to be done defensively?
A: I feel like it’s a big part, because everyone gets to realize what we have done and put a little more effort into everything, and just see it in a different perspective. Just watch everything that (we) do and just learn from it and correct it in every kind of way.
Q: Where do you feel like the defensive line needs to keep working in terms of getting pressure to the quarterback?
A: I just feel like we all, as a group, need to continue to just have that fight and just keep going each and every snap, and just be consistent. You know, just stay on top of everything.

Q: When was the last time you played standing up as opposed to having your hand on the ground as a defensive lineman?
A: Hey, it was probably ninth grade, I ain’t gonna lie.
Q: What’d it feel like?
A: It felt good. I like running that defense, and it’s just a great feeling to be able to stand up, move around and do a couple different other things. I really do like it a lot.
Q: Have you told Jett (Johnson) and the others you can do their job now?
A: *laughing* Nah, they can keep their job.
Q: You missed some time last year due to injury yourself, now you’re the leader of that group, how do you keep those guys that are hurt right now focussed knowing there’s a possibility of them coming back?
A: Just making sure that everyone stays on their grind, doing every little thing. It just all comes with having that mindset and that attitude to want to do what we do, and just to keep coming out there every day to get better and just strive.
Q: Have coach Brock or Arnett given you guys any points of emphasis to focus on during the bye week?
A: Really just don’t treat it like we have a break. Treat it like it’s any other week of practice. Just keep getting better and learn different things. Everybody doesn’t know everything, so it’s always a great opportunity to learn more things to be perfect during the season.
Q: What’s your plans for the open weekend?
A: Really, just be here with my wife and just chill.
Q: You going to watch some college football?
A: Yes indeed.
