On Thursday Mississippi State had another player officially enter the portal as junior forward Jaquan Scott announced his intentions to leave the program. The 6-foot-8 and 230-pound Scott becomes the second Bulldog player to enter the transfer portal this week, joining junior guard Trey Fort who entered the transfer portal on Wednesday.
This past season Scott played in just 11 games for a combined total of 64 minutes. The Dallas, Texas, native played in only four SEC games and his last action of the season was in a State win at Missouri on February 10th. Scott ended the season with 13 points, 16 rebounds, four assists and four steals. He was 6 of 15 from the field, 1 of 5 from the foul line and missed his lone attempt from 3 point territory.
The former juco transfer from Salt Lake Community College had a career-best six points and six rebounds in a Bulldog win over Tulane during the non-conference portion of the schedule.
During his last year at Salt Lake Community College, Scott averaged 16.8 points, 10.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists a game. Scott played his prep career at Mansfield Timberview (Texas) High School, Universal (Texas) Academy and TLAP Sports (Fla.) Academy.

From the 2023-24 roster, Mississippi State has to replace centers Tolu Smith and Jimmy Bell, wing DJ Jeffries and point guard Rams Davis. In November the Bulldogs signed 2024 point guard prospect Dellquan Warren, who will enroll at Mississippi State this coming summer.
The Bulldogs are coming off a 21-14 campaign that ended last week in the first round of the NCAA Tournament following a loss to Michigan State.
