Former Georgetown transfer guard Jayden Epps commits to Mississippi State

Mississippi State has filled a lot of needs this offseason in the transfer portal at various positions. One remaining need was in the backcourt with a combo guard and that search ended on Friday with a major addition.
Former Georgetown guard Jayden Epps announced his commitment to the Bulldogs and becomes the fifth transfer commitment for the program. He joins wing/guard Amier Ali of Arizona State, center Quincy Ballard of Wichita State, power forward Achor Achor of Kansas State and guard UAB Ja’Borri McGhee of UAB.
The 6-foot-2 and 190-pound Epps played the past two seasons at Georgetown after playing his freshman season at Illinois. This past season, the Norfolk, Va., native averaged 12.8 points, 2.3 assists, 2.1 rebounds and 1.4 steals a game for the Hoyas. He also shot 34.4% from 3 point territory and 75% at the foul line.
Also this past season, Epps had 18 games of double-figure scoring and five games of 20 points or more. His season-best was a 27-point performance in Georgetown’s 75-71 win over Syracuse.
In his first season (2023-24) at Georgetown, Epps averaged 18.5 points, 4.2 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.2 steals a game. That season he shot 30.5% beyond the 3 point arc and 76.3% at the charity stripe.
