Former Rhode Island transfer Jeremy Foumena commits to Mississippi State

On Thursday, Mississippi State’s basketball program took another step towards filling out the 2024-25 roster with a frontcourt addition from the transfer portal. Former Rhode Island transfer and rising sophomore center Jeremy Foumena announced his Mississippi State commitment.
The 6-foot-11 and 235-pound Foumena entered the transfer portal shortly after his freshman season at Rhode Island concluded. The Canada native committed to High Point in late April before switching his decision to Mississippi State on Thursday.
As a freshman at Rhode Island, Foumena averaged 12.9 minutes a game and averaged 5.3 points and 3.5 rebounds. He shot 52.5% from the field and shot 32% (8 of 25) from 3 point range. Foumena collected a career-high 16 points and seven rebounds last November against Wagner in his third college game, just one game after scoring 14 points with six boards against Fairfield.
The Bulldogs still have room to take two more transfers this offseason and State continues to target former Vanderbilt transfer Ven-Allen Lubin, who officially visited North Carolina earlier this week.
With Foumena’s decision, head coach Chris Jans and his staff have now added six transfers this offseason. Foumena joins Penn State guard Kanye Clary, Florida guard/wing Riley Kugel, Boston College guard Claudell Harris, Miami center Michael Nwoko and Georgia wing RJ Melendez.
Within the Class of 2024, in November Mississippi State also signed point guard Dellquan Warren and last month, the Bulldogs collected a commitment from On3 four-star forward Eric Paymon.
