This offseason Mississippi State’s receivers room has changed a lot from last year with many new faces via the transfer portal. But there’s still a one veteran around with that group in rising senior Jordan Mosley.

The former Northwestern transfer had a solid showing last year with 23 catches for 405 yards and three touchdowns. These days, the Alabama native is showing the new faces the ropes and helping get his position group on the same page.

Recently, Mosley met with the media for the first time this spring and shared his thoughts on the Bulldog receivers:

Q: Lot of new receivers in that room this spring. Which guys have caught your attention so far?
Mosley
: Pretty much all of them. The guys came in with the right mindset ready to work every day. I think this is probably the deepest room we’ve had. But I think we’ve got a lot of guys that have added a different aspect to the game, to the offense. We got bigger guys like (Jaron) Glover and Markus (Allen) who can go out there and be physical and make tough physical plays. Then we got speed with Brenen (Thompson) and I say myself and Gracen (Harris) and Ricky (Johnson). Ricky is having a phenomenal spring right now. It’s good to watch everybody come together and try to gel as a group.

Q: What has Ricky Johnson done well this spring?
Mosley
: He’s that guy. He is ready. Probably the smoothest route runner I’ve seen in a long time. Just someone who understands how to run the route, how to manipulate his body. He doesn’t always use his speed. It makes him extremely hard to guard. Ricky is having a hell of a spring, excuse my language.

Q: How have you helped some of the new guys?
Mosley
: Just trying to fill them in and show them the ropes. Just doing my part, just leading by example. Any questions they need, they’re always able to come and talk to me. I am an open book, someone that has been in this offense. I understand how this offense works and I can help when there is a need.

Q: You being a veteran of this group, what’s different for you this spring?
Mosley
: I would say the main thing that is different, I want to dominate going into the season. Just put myself out there. I feel like I had a lot of opportunities that were missed last year. Football is a game where you miss a lot of plays. I feel like if I hit those I can have a better year. Going into this year, I just want to showcase what I can do. I just want to go out there and do what is best for the team every weekend and put myself out there.

Q: How’s it been catching passes from the quarterbacks’ group?
Mosley
: Everybody is different. Blake (Shapen) is Blake. It is good to see him back out there healthy and slinging the ball. It’s always fun playing with your quarterback and me and him have a great relationship. It’s good to go out there and catch passes from him again. Then you got Luke (Kromenhoek), who came in from Florida State. He is young but is also very good. He has good arm talent. Right now he is learning the offense, him and KaMario (Taylor) are not as confident as Blake running the offense. But it takes time. By fall camp everybody will be locked in. We got young bull – KaMario. I don’t want to get too high on him but one of the best arms I’ve seen ever. He is an elite quarterback for his age.

Q: How different is the offense compared to last year?
Mosley
: 75 percent of the offense is gone. So I guess you could say that is a difference. Last year we all came in together so it was a learning curve for all of us. Whereas this year, some guys understand the offense and how it works. Then there are some guys who don’t. So basically trying to get everybody on the same page and one accord as an offense.

Q: Which cornerbacks are giving you a battle this spring?
Mosley
: I like them all. You got Kelley Jones. DeAgo (Brumfield) is incredibly smart. Jayven (Williams) is very fast and TWright (Traveon Wright) is back and he is having a good spring. That room is very competitive, as well. Just seeing them get out here each and every day trying to attack it and make each other better is only making us better as a receivers’ corp.
