State commit Kamario Taylor ready to lead young Noxubee County squad
Kamario Taylor and his God-given abilities have shined on the gridiron for a couple of seasons now. But this season the 2025 Mississippi State commitment and On3 four-star quarterback knows more will be required of him this season.
Last season Taylor passed for 3,594 yards with 43 touchdowns and also rushed for 794 yards and 15 more scores. But with a young team this year, Taylor realizes his leadership skills will be vital in order to get Noxubee County High School back to the Class 3A state championship game. Taylor and company get the season underway on Friday against Starkville High School.
“Our biggest goal is to just to improve every single day,” noted Taylor. “Our goal is to be the best version of ourselves every day in practice. If we do that then you will be a better person, a better player and a better teammate. For myself, I think my leadership skills have improved the most.”
Taylor is rated as the nation’s No. 9 quarterback and the state’s No. 5 prospect by On3. He’s been committed to Mississippi State for nearly a year now and plans to be a regular visitor to Davis Wade Stadium this fall.
Taylor’s last trip to Starkville was late in July as he was among several future Bulldogs at the Bulldog Bash event at head coach Jeff Lebby’s house.
“It was a vibe,” Taylor recalled. “We played video games and they a lot of things for us to do. Best part to me was just spending time with the coaches and the other guys there.”
While some of his fellow 2025 commits were on hand at Bulldog Bash, Taylor also spent time building bonds with a couple of members of the 2026 class.

“I really hung out mostly with the 2026 guys,” added the 6-foot-3.5 and 205-pound Taylor. “I was with (2026 linebacker) JJ Bush a lot and I was with (2026 athlete) Tristen Keys, and we all got to build some bonds there. They had me hyped being around them and I was talking with Caleb (Cunningham), too. It went good and he was having fun.”
Of course, Taylor was also able to talk ball and regular life with Lebby and members of his coaching staff. And those bonds have grown tighter over the past several months.
“The coaches were saying a lot of the same things as before,” Taylor remarked. “They said they can’t wait until I get there and that we’re gonna have some fun. It’s good with Coach (Matt) Holecek and Coach Lebby and our relationship is like white on rice. They said they’re ready to get me there and turn me loose.”
Taylor has closed the door on his recruiting process and it’s been that way for several months now. He is also on track to enroll at Mississippi State in January, and he embraces the fact he can play his senior season without any recruiting pressure or worries.
“It’s very relaxing, not having to worry about different coaches and different colleges,” Taylor mentioned. “I still have some colleges reach out like UCF. But it’s better for me because I don’t have any worry or stress about recruiting. I know where I want to go and I know where home is.”
